Bil-Jax Ships First European Summit Series Boom
 |
March 24, 2007 By Lift & Access
Bil-Jax, Archbold, Ohio, announced it will unveil the first of six Summit Series™ trailer-mounted boom lifts specifically designed and approved for the European market in the IPAF booth at Bauma. This new model, the T-134/98, is the metric equivalent of the Summit Series 3632T towable aerial lift, which was introduced to the U.S. market in 2005. The T-134/98 provides a maximum platform height of 37.5 feet, horizontal reach of 32 feet, and a platform load capacity of 500 pounds that is unrestricted throughout the entire range of its working envelope.
|
|
The T-134/98 offers many of the same features as its U.S. equivalent, including an automatic, self-leveling hydraulic outrigger system that allows set-up in less than 30 seconds; individual and simultaneous outrigger deployment and retraction capabilities; leveling capabilities of 12°; zero tail swing beyond the outrigger footprint, 700° turntable rotation; and 12-inch diameter non-marking footpads for use on sensitive flooring and rough-terrain jobsites.
The machine can be operated from either the platform or ground control station, both of which feature an easy-to-understand display panel consisting of control buttons that are logically positioned around a single machine image providing for easy identification of button functions.
For ease of service, particularly throughout the international markets, metric fasteners were utilized on all Summit Series models since inception. “It may seem like a small detail, but it was one of many strategic decisions made early on in the development process”, said Steve Citron, director of business development. “International dealers, rental companies, and end-users want their machines to be easy-to-service and maintain. Utilizing metric fasteners is a very basic requirement in meeting our international customers’ expectations.” Another important element of Bil-Jax’s global introduction plan has been to market the international versions of its products in metric working height and outreach. |

The primary differences between the T-134/98 and the 3632T include the European-style axle, mechanical surge and parking brake system, tires, 50-mm hitch coupler, and reflector and lighting package. The machine has a few other minor differences required for CE standards compliance.
Bil-Jax has been working with Intertek/ETL Semko on multiple international certifications for the entire Summit Series product range and has been actively recruiting international dealers since the beginning of this year. Product manuals, decals and other documentation are currently being translated into the various languages as the company gears up to enter the global marketplace.
In addition to the sneak peak at the Bauma show, Bil-Jax will be participating in several other international exhibitions this year, including the SED show in the UK (booth #795), where it will unveil the first of three European-style articulating boom models in addition to the T-134/98, and Platformers’ Day in Hohenroda, Germany.
